Slavery: Theory and Practice
For many centuries the Black sea coast has been at the crossroads of the slave trade routes. By the sea and land from the Caucasus the caravans of slaves moved to the South: to the Ottoman Empire where harems were flooded with girls; to the Persian Empire where purchase of boys for local armed forces was conducted. Thus, the mission of our journal is to acquaint the reader with the nature and practice of slavery and slave trade on the territories of the Black sea coast and the Caucasus.
The Editorial Board welcomes articles from both Russian and foreign researchers.
